After her well-respected husband dies in the arms of his mistress, Diana decides to live by her own rules alone.

ARTHUR ABBOTT, EARL OF STANHOPE, is a stickler for propriety and has never met a rule he did not feel compelled to uphold. However, when he saves a young widow from a most inappropriate situation, he is drawn into a world quite unlike his own. Convinced that he is only lending a hand out of duty, Arthur agrees to a daring compromise.

For Diana to uphold society’s rules, Arthur has to break them.

Can scandalous and virtuous ever walk hand in hand?

Surrendering to My Spy by Dawn Brower ~

One Enchanting Kiss by Amanda Mariel ~

Handsome-as-sin Thomas Astley is more than a little intrigued by the vibrant, saucy woman who saved his life. He knows she is more than she seems, and vows to discover all of Moire’s secrets. A move that unbeknownst to him threatens her future and all she holds dear…including her heart.

My Lady Rogue by Katherine Bone ~

Everything Lord Simon Danbury and Gillian, Baroness Chauncey, have done for Nelson’s Tea has led to this moment…

As war continues off England’s shores, from the sea to the continent, and victory is won at great cost, a devastating betrayal threatens the members of Nelson’s Tea, Admiral Horatio Nelson’s mercenaries. None of them have ever questioned Lord Danbury’s authority–until now. Death’s darkening veil is descending over London, and as a new hierarchy within the group begins to rise, a hostile mole prepares to strike.

Surrounded by the greatest spies in England, longing to share their lasting love, can Simon unify the clandestine group without losing the baroness? Or will she be the price they have to pay for peace?

On Loving a Woman by Keriann McKenna ~

Do No Harm. Professor Ian MacDermot is pleased when a beautiful young woman is turned over to him for individual instruction. His task–to teach her to be a dutiful wife.

The fiercely independent-thinking Sarah MacDonald is having none of it. Haunted by a dark experience from her past, she vowed never to marry and become a ‘sex slave’ to any man, but Ian MacDermot is not just any man.

Lose yourself in these great books!

Martinmas: Celebrating the Oncoming Winter by Barbara Bettis!

by Barbara Bettis

We don’t always think of the medieval period as being a time of parties. But people then actually celebrated a variety of special days, many named for saints. Often the saint day observances coincided with earlier (pagan) celebrations.

On Nov. 11, St. Martin’s Day or Martinmas was, indeed, a major holiday. The Martinmas feast, celebrated the end of autumn and the ‘natural’ beginning of winter.

medieval november w. hog-1

By November the autumn harvest and land preparation for winter crops was completed. Time to get ready for the challenging days of winter. Hogs that had been turned out into the woods in October to fatten on acorns were brought in and slaughtered, and the meat preserved. Cattle were butchered, as well, keeping only those few used to begin production in the spring. (Food was scarce enough; extra for animals wasn’t available.)

Huzzah and Hoorah! It’s release day, me hearties! Climb aboard, I’ve got an exciting adventure lined up for you as the third story in my Regent’s Revenge Series finally sails the seas.

RM_Graphic

Haven’t read the first book in the series? Grab your complimentary copy of Book 1, The Pirate’s Duchess, here!

In The Pirate’s Duty my heroine, Oriana Thorpe, is a tavern keeper and a Cornish lass trying to distance herself from her family’s smuggling legacy. She ferments her own ale, salts her own pilchards, and runs her family’s tavern, The Marauder’s Roost, seeking to stand on her own two feet while making amends for her family’s sins.  But one thing threatens her new-found independence—her brother Charles and his legacy as Captain Carnage.

What readers are saying!

“THE PIRATE’S DUTY is a charming romance, the story is solid and compelling, and the ending is fabulous!”

“An engrossing novel that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions with pirates, revenge & of course romance.”

“An intriguing and swashbuckling story. You will fall in love with the characters, especially the heroine. Lots of fun and a lovely romance. It is part of a series but easily read as a stand alone.”

My Heroes Always Come Home

Here’s part of my writing journey, me hearties!

Penned By Candlelight

by Katherine Bone

Ahoy, me hearties! When I was a young officer’s wife and my husband was frequently away on duty, I turned to books to escape. At the time, I had two young children below thkatherine bonee age of two years old and we were living overseas in Italy and Germany (a total four and a half years), far away from family and friends. Books were my mainstay, companionship in times of trouble, and provided adventure far outside of the loneliness I experienced every day.

To stay sane, I devoured romance novels by Kathleen Woodiwiss, Julie Garwood, Johanna Lindsey, Elizabeth Lowell, Rosemary Rogers, and Fern Michaels. Their books led me to historical places where life was gritty and hard, but love ALWAYS won the day. Something I prayed would happen when my husband was serving our country and there were times I feared I would never see him again.

Georgian Era Commerce

FANtastic historical information about the London Docks! I’ll share Part II tomorrow. Thanks bunches, Author Regina Jeffers!

Every Woman Dreams...

man-hands-forming-brackets-word-e-commerce-written-them1-630x350Before the later part of the Georgian Period in England few buildings/structures specifically designed for trade and commerce existed. One need only to look at the timber wharfs of the Port of London to understand the haphazard way the people took up the need to greet the large number of ships arriving from around the world. Merchants often had their offices in the ground floors of their abodes. Shops were often no more than the front room of a house with a large window for display purposes. Warehouses were kept in cellars or outbuildings. Markets appeared on streets or upon a square, and businessmen had stalls or wagons or carts from which they conducted transactions. Only custom houses and exchanges were built specifically for business.

Setting Sail ~ Cornwall’s Talland Church via Katherine Bone

14 Tuesday Mar 2017

by Katherine Bone | posted in: English History, history, Katherine Bone, Pirates, Uncategorized | 0

Ahoy, me hearties! I’d like to share some fascinating research I’ve discovered for one of my books. While writing The Pirate’s Duty, Regent’s Revenge Book Three, I needed to learn more about a 13th Century church in Cornwall. Talland Church was built on the site of a Celtic altar erected in the 5th Century and dedicated to St. Tallanus. The present altar sits on top of the Celtic altar established there fifteen hundred years ago!

In Cornish, Talland means Tal Lan. (Tal for hill and Lan for holy place.) Built on a ley line—significant to the Celtic people—the church looks down on Talland Bay, betweenPolperro and Looe, maintaining a mighty historical presence on its bed-rock foundation. A key landmark element of the church is its main crenelated bell tower and another echoing tower nearby. Together, set one nautical mile apart (1.1508 miles or 1.852 kilometers) these landmarks help ships time speed between Talland Bay and another pair of towers situated at Hannafore, near Looe. These landmarks were extremely influential in the age of sail and still aid mariners to this day.

Read more about this FANtastic church at Embracing Romance.

Enjoy,

Katherine
