jack-sparrowWelcome aboard, Author Cathy Skendrovich. We’re super jazzed you’ve come to share your new release with us today. Holidays and pirates! What’s not to love, eh? And you’re bringin’ ’em both. Huzzah!!!

Lady Cathy: Ahoy, and thank you for having me aboard, Lady Katherine!

pb-coverFor those of you who don’t know me, I write historical and contemporary romance. Today I’ll be talking about one of my favorite characters, pirate captain Andre Dubois, and giving you five reasons why you’ll fall in love with him in my Christmas novella entitled The Pirate Bride’s Holiday Masquerade, coming from Literary Wanderlust publishers on Oct. 1st. You first meet him in my novel The Pirate’s Bride, when he is forced to marry Sophie Bellard, a spitfire with whom he eventually falls in love. He’s an extreme Alpha male of whom readers, and Sophie, can’t seem to get enough. Read on for a few reasons you might want him for yourself. Continue reading →

In the 1700s, a scandal erupted in the royal palaces of Denmark that began behind closed bedroom doors and ended in imprisonment and execution and upheaval when a love affair between a neglected wife and an ambitious doctor hurtled headlong into a political coup. It is far from a fairy tale and for the players in this story, there was to be no happily ever after.

Caroline Matilda by Francis CotesThe story began when Caroline Matilda of Great Britain, the youngest child of Frederick, Prince of Wales, and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha, became betrothed to her cousin, King Christian VII of Denmark. Caroline had been raised in seclusion, a world away from the formal manners and customs of the court and she had little interest in royal life, preferring to devote herself to nature and equestrian pursuits.

Christian VII by Alexander RoslinCaroline Matilda’s quiet days ended at the age of 15 when the very reluctant princess traveled to Copenhagen to become Christian’s wife. Two years her senior and less than twelve months into his reign, Christian already enjoyed an eccentric reputation, though the full extent of his mental illness had yet to show itself. They were married at the Christiansborg Palace on 9 November 1766, and Caroline already found herself in a situation for which she was ill-prepared. Continue reading →

KathyBoneThePirate'sDebtFINALLady Chloe Walsingham is an enthusiastic gothic romance reader and hopeless romantic focused solely on finding her perfect hero. She also happens to have a penchant for getting into trouble. So when the man she loves disappears after a scandalous duel, she decides to follow him to the ends of the Earth. To do so, however, Chloe must evade her brother, an infamous revenue man, and board a ship bound for Penzance. And nothing in her beloved books can prepare her for the harsh realities of wreckers who ply the coast.

After his father destroyed the lives of countless innocent people, Basil Halford, Earl of Markwick is willing to do anything to earn back his honor. Betrayed by his blood and his reputation ruined, Markwick answers the request of a well-heeled duke and dons the Black Regent’s mask to repay the debt. His task? Rescuing a young woman who is chasing down a ghost of a man.

But a pirate has plenty of enemies, and Markwick isn’t any different. No matter how diligent a captain he may be, sailing to Lady Chloe’s rescue involves risking not only the Regent’s legacy but the last thing he can afford to lose…his heart.

Release Day ~ The Rogue’s Surrender!

TheRoguesSurrender500x750It’s time to celebrate BIG, me hearties! THE ROGUE’S SURRENDER, Nelson’s Tea Book #3 is OUT today!!! And oh, what a joyous day this is!!! Sound the trumpets! Fire the cannon! Prepare to be boarded! Aye, ’twill be a rollickin’ ride of adventure, mayhem, and romance. 😉

The men of Nelson’s Tea ARR back and with a vengeance! Time is running out. After Nelson’s untimely death at Trafalgar, Napoleon turns his wrath on Admiral Villeneuve, arranging the doomed man’s death. With no chance of storming England’s shores, Napoleon then focuses on dominating less formidable foes. But several of his sympathizers remain and the damage has been done to Spain and the spies left in harm’s way, in particular, Señorita Mercedes Catalina Vasquez Claremont. Only one man can save her… the man who hates Spaniards, vowing to never set foot in Spain again, Garrick, Viscount Seaton, aka Captain Blade.

0001-42When I started writing my Nelson’s Tea Series many years ago, I never imagined how these characters would take hold of my imagination and become my heartfelt friends. Along with Garrick, I suffered while writing his book. I went through periods of time when I couldn’t write, fearing for the end of my series just as much as Garrick was haunted by his captivity in Spain. He’s such a tortured soul. And because of all that he’s endured through the books, he needed a heroine strong enough to reach deep into his soul and save him. And so it is that Mercedes’s name did not come by accident. When I discovered that Mercy was the nickname for Mercedes during the Regency period, my heroine was born. I knew it would take a great deal of mercy to heal this broken man.

0001-8377343Sayin’ goodbye to those you love is never easy, is it? How odd it is that authors feel so connected to their characters, as if they were flesh and blood. In THE ROGUE’S SURRENDER, you’ll find one near-death experience and several deaths of beloved characters that came at great expense to me. I cried over the book while writing it. But as in life, not everyone can be saved, can they? And as in life, victory comes at great cost.

I owe a debt of gratitude to my publisher esKape Press Publishing, Author M.V. Freeman (who graciously brainstormed this entire series with me!) and the Rogues, Rebels & Rakes Street Team for encouraging me every step of the way.

MyLordRogue453x680I have Lady Jayne Smith to thank for asking for Lord Simon Danbury’s book. That book became the cornerstone of my series, MY LORD ROGUE, A Nelson’s Tea Novella #1. Here Admiral Nelson organizes the group Nelson’s Tea and all twenty of the men in clandestine service to the king are introduced.

DukebyDayRoguebyNight500x750

DUKE BY DAY, ROGUE BY NIGHT, Nelson’s Tea #1, features Percival Avery, Marquess Stanton and the future Duke of Blendingham, as he searches for his sister’s killers, along with some help from Nelson’s Tea.

TheRoguesPrize500x750

THE ROGUE’S PRIZE, Nelson’s Tea #2, features Captain Henry Guffald’s attempt to redeem his naval career. His mission is to rescue Lord Garrick Seaton from Spain, but he’s attacked by a female pirate with an agenda of her own.

MyLadyRogue500x750

MY LADY ROGUE, A Nelson’s Tea Novella #2, was equally hard to write as the members of Nelson’s Tea learn that Admiral Nelson has been killed at Trafalgar. As they convene to vote on the future of the group, a mole is activated, endangering their lives.

And now it’s my delightful pleasure to give you, THE ROGUE’S SURRENDER, Nelson’s Tea Book #3!

TheRoguesSurrender500x750He’d become a beast only she could tame.

Marked for death! Señorita Mercedes Vasquez has been betrayed by a member of Nelson’s Tea. Now her life is in the hands of the man she couldn’t save, a beast forged by Spanish hatred.

Lord Garrick Seaton, aka Captain Blade, is the only one who has a chance of pulling off a lifesaving mission. To do so, he must go to Spain and face memories of captivity and torture. But the fiery Spanish lady he seeks to rescue proves to be the greater threat. Can he protect his heart, or will she demand his complete surrender?

Have you read any of the books in my series? Tell me who your FAVorite character is and why. You could win a free ecopy of THE ROGUE’S SURRENDER! Contest ends July 16th!

Happy reading!

Release Day! Jack Interviews Drajulal-kishah from Alienne Mine by Deborah O’Neill Cordes!

Grog Filled HourARR! Jack was promised rum if he interviewed FABulous Author Deborah O’Neill Cordes today. In lieu of answerin’ Jack’s questions however, Lady Deborah opted to feature Drajulal-kishah, the heroine of her new sci-fi tale, Alienne Mine, a Prequel to Dragon Dawn, to help raise the signal flag for her latest release! Double ARR!!!

Jack saunters across the quarterdeck with his usual swaggerin’, swashbucklin’ genius. Eyes wide, fingers wigglin’, he spies Alienne, takes a cautious step backwards, then manages a quick glance at his hand to be sure ol’ Davy Jones hasn’t cursed him with the black spot again.

“Well, that be a boon.”

Before him stands a woman unlike any mermaids or wenches he’s ever seen. At five foot ten inches tall, her face is devoid of the pox but similar to stunning women of his previous acquaintance. He wipes his eyes to be sure Tia Dalma hasn’t drugged him and then reopens them. Aye, the girl IS blue-green with glittering scales. Even stranger, she wears a silver trouser and shirt design unlike any known to wenches in his circle. While her rainbow-hued silken dreadlocks are a pleasant enough sight, somewhat similar to his own, her turquoise eyes and square pupils pin him to the deck.
